TCN Names New Recovery House in Bellefontaine the Vivian Koontz Recovery Home

TCN Behavioral Health has named their newest recovery house in Bellefontaine the Vivian Koontz Recovery Home.

TCN had opened nominations for the name of the house to the community and received a total of 31 nominations for different women, some of whom had lived at the recovery house in the past, and all of whom have inspiring journeys of recovery. After much deliberation over these nominees, Ms. Koontz’ name was chosen.

Vivian Koontz was born in West Virginia in 1927, and was called “Miss Viv” by many who knew her. She was known to the Bellefontaine-area recovery community as one of the first women sponsors in the area, and she sponsored women from Marysville to Sidney. She dedicated her life to helping others, and when she passed away in 2009 she had been sober for 31 years, and had been helping other people in recovery for almost as long.

The Vivian Koontz Recovery Home was officially named in an event held at the TCN West Liberty office with CEO Lori Strobl, members of Senior Administrative staff, SUD directors and managers, TCN board member Stacy Cox, MHDAS president Tammy Nicholl, Jon Brown of Residential Administrators, and Kathy Zeller of Recovery Zone.

TCN thanks all who made a nomination for the Vivian Koontz Recovery Home, and we hope to continue supporting the recovery journeys of women like all of those who were nominated.

TCN Behavioral Health Announces New Recovery Housing

TCN to expand residential recovery options

Bellefontaine, Ohio - September 27, 2021 - TCN Behavioral Health Services, Inc. announces the opening of the agency’s newest recovery house. The facility is fully furnished to accommodate up to 4 women in a shared living environment. While in residence at the house, women commit to remain 100% free of all alcohol and drugs. While no medical treatment is provided on site, residents remain engaged in services at TCN to support their recovery and provide additional treatment, such as case management or mental health services. The new facility is set to open September 27, 2021.

The Bellefontaine recovery house is a transitional setting to provide a safe, supportive environment for women in early stages of recovery and link them to community resources to assist in their return to independent living and sustain recovery. Residents will have access to TCN’s full range of treatment programs, with the minimum stay being 30 days.

TCN currently operates 8 recovery houses in 4 counties. Two of the houses are named after members of the local recovery communities: Christopher House in Greene County and Minda Robinson House in Montgomery County. “We hope to give the house a name in honor of an individual who has perhaps fought their own battle with substance use, or who has worked through recovery or helped others in that journey,” says TCN Chief Executive Officer, Lori Strobl.“ We are inviting the local community to engage in the work of the recovery house by nominating someone they think would be appropriate to honor with the name of the house.” Nominations can be in the name of a friend or relative who has had a personal experience with substance use, recovery, or mentoring others through their own recovery.

Nominations for naming the SOARS house are now closed. We thank you for your support!

To submit a nomination, visit www.tcn.org/house and fill out the form provided in order to place a nomination for the naming of the recovery house. TCN will review all entries and will announce the choice of name to the community at an event on Friday, November 12th, 2021.
